Class Experience

This is an English Reading Book Club for students who are developing their love of reading, writing, thinking and sharing their ideas. This class is aimed at beginner readers to broaden their vocabulary, improve recognition of words, develop phonics and handwriting too. 

Learners will develop their reading fluency, comprehension skills including knowledge of phonics, vocabulary, guessing meaning of words from context, sharing ideas and developing communication skills.

🔹 Week Beginning 17/6/2024 - Red Pandas
🔹 Week Beginning 24/6/2024 - Ants
🔹 Week Beginning 1/7/2024 - Caterpillar to Butterfly
🔹 Week Beginning 8/7/2024 - Lions
🔹 Week Beginning 15/7/2024 - Koalas
🔹 Week Beginning 22/7/2024 - Spiders

Each week will include vocabulary, comprehension and input. Learners will be encouraged to share their ideas in a variety of ways in class. 

This course uses books from the National Geographic Kids Level 1 Series.

Parental Guidance
Please note, this is an English language class. This is not a 'read along' class. Our own teaching materials are used to teach learners during this course. The focus of the classes is to develop language including, phonics, vocabulary, grammar, comprehension, fluency and writing skills.
Supply List
Learners will need a notebook, pencil and crayons for each class.
The books are required for this class.  Students may use e-books, hardcopy and paperbacks, or audiobooks to read and comprehend the text.
External Resources
Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.

This course uses books from the National Geographic Kids Level 1 Series. Learners are encouraged to have their own copy of each book for this course. Some can be found as eBooks on https://www.getepic.com/ You need to register for your own free account.
