Class Experience

Do you love Science? In this Ongoing Class, learners will explore a range of Science subjects in a fun and interactive way. This course aims to provide meaningful learning experiences for young explorers.

Each class will include a range of teaching methods and activities that are designed to engage the learners in both a hands-on and minds-on way. Classes will include experiments, Q&A, quizzes, games, worksheets, videos and much more. Some classes will include breakout rooms.  Learners will be encouraged to observe, explore, question and share what they learn. A variety of methods are used to support learners and cater for different learning styles and needs.

Week of 1/4/24 - What is Materials Science? - materials science as the study of the properties and applications of materials
Week of 8/4/24 - What is Materials Science? - basic material properties, such as hardness, strength, and conductivity
Week of 15/4/24 - What is Materials Science? - Materials identification activity: exploring and categorizing different materials based on their properties
Week of 22/4/24 - Properties of Metals - metallic materials, including properties such as ductility, malleability, and conductivity
Week of 29/4/24 - Properties of Metals - metal alloys and their applications in industry
Week of 6/5/24 - Properties of Metals - Metal casting: melting and casting metals 
Week of 13/5/24 - Properties of Polymers - polymer materials, including properties such as flexibility, durability, and thermal stability
Week of 20/5/24 - Properties of Polymers - polymerization processes and polymer structures
Week of 27/5/24 - Properties of Polymers - Polymer synthesis activity: experimenting with polymerization reactions to create different polymers
