In this ongoing course, learners will develop their maths skills. This course is part of a six year primary maths course that takes a problem-solving approach to teaching young learners the skills they need to become confident mathematicians. This course contains a greater focus on the use of manipulatives in the classroom, pictorial and abstract representations to promote deeper learning, language support to help EAL students develop fluency in mathematical language. Fractions and Decimals Week of 4/11/24: Equivalent fractions Week of 11/11/24: Fractions and decimals Week of 18/11/24: Addition pairs Week of 25/11/24: Mixed numbers and improper fractions Week of 2/12/24: Ratio and proportion Week of 9/12/24: Percentages Mental Calculation Week of 16/12/24 - Mental strategies for addition and subtraction Week of 23/12/24 - Mental strategies for multiplication and division Week of 30/12/24 - Using known facts to derive new ones Week of 6/1/25 - Doubling and halving Week of 13/1/25 - Mental strategies for division of two-digit numbers by single-digit numbers Week of 20/1/25 - Adding and subtracting near multiples Number and Place Value Week of 27/1/25: The number system Week of 3/2/25: Place value Week of 10/2/25: Number properties Week of 17/2/25: Comparing numbers Week of 24/2/25: Estimation and rounding Week of 3/3/25: Number sequences Further classes will be added.
