Barn owls and barred owls are often confused with one another, as their names sound so similar. Join the discussion and drawing session as we create our own owls, while also learning about them. As a former nature center intern, I am excited to share my owl-related stories with your learner! Discussion topics: - basic owl physiology (how their bodies work) - anatomy (key, unique owl body parts) - different behaviors of barn owls and barred owls This will be a discussion-based class, with the conversation being guided by the teacher. Bring your art supplies! Step-by-step instructions will be provided as we draw each type of owl. No previous knowledge of owls is required.
Learning Goals
Students will be able to recognize physical identifying characteristics of barred and barn owls, as well as be able to describe some behaviors of each.
