Class Experience
US Grade 4 - 6
Each week will consist of a video lesson which the children can watch to learn about the dinosaurs we will be working on, they will then use the knowledge they have gained to play an online escape room which I created for them. They will use the OutSchool classroom to discuss the clues and support each other in solving the game. The children will need to work as a team to work through the game and prove they have learnt the information with this fun lesson. These types of games encourage team work and critical thinking skills. While this class does not meet live, the children will still be expected to participate by playing the online game with the other students, commenting on discussions in the classroom and making decisions as a class. Week 1: This week we will learn about the herbivore dinosaurs, the children will learn the types of herbivore dinosaurs there were alive, how they lived and survived. After the lesson the learners will be invited to take part in a fun escape room game, where they can work as part of a team to solve puzzles using the information they have learnt in the lesson. The learners will be expected to complete the puzzles and support each other with clues they discover. Week 2: This week we will learn about the meat eating dinosaurs, the children will learn the how lived and survived, they will also learn about the famous T-Rex. After the lesson the learners again be will be invited to take part in a fun escape room game as in the previous week, learners will be expected to play the game together, supporting each other and solving the clues as a class throughout the week. Week 3: This week we will learn about the how the dinosaurs died out, the children will learn about the different theories and ideas associated with this. As with previous weeks, after the lesson the learners again be will be invited to take part in a fun escape room game to use their new knowledge to solve puzzles as part of a team. Week 4: In the final week we will learn about palaeontology, the children will learn how dinosaurs are now studied and how we have learnt about the past. For a final time learners again be will be invited to take part in an escape room game to demonstrate their new knowledge and support their classmates in solving puzzles.
