Come join in the fun at Kindergarten circle time! This small group, semester-long course will meet 2 days per week and will cover a variety of concepts in English Language Arts, Math, Science, and Social Skills. You can choose a schedule that works for your family: I have sessions available for Mondays and Wednesdays or Tuesdays and Thursdays. Your kids will be learning age-appropriate subjects through many fun activities and games that will incorporate singing, movement, speaking and listening activities, shared reading and story time, and social interaction with their peers! Each class will follow a similar format each time we meet, in order to create an engaging and reliable lesson routine for the children. Just like adults, kids need repetition to learn new ideas, which is why our fun repeated lessons will help your child to learn their foundational skills. The specific activities we do each day will change according to that week's theme and the current season. Here are some of the things we will cover over our 13 weeks together: The alphabet, phonemic awareness, phonics, days of the week, months of the year, colors, shapes, counting, subitizing, weather, simple addition, simple subtraction, story time, and more. As parents of a young child, I'm sure you know how much energy your kids have and how they love to play! Our circle time meetings will take advantage of your kid's natural curiosity and love of fun while they learn new concepts. CLASS SCHEDULE: Please note: Schedule is subject to minor changes based on students' current skills, interest levels, informal assessments, and teacher discretion. Learning Goals
Four- to five-year-olds learn best by engaging with others and playing. Therefore, our learning goals are based on the children's developmental milestones and the foundational skills that will best prepare them for reading, writing, math, and social-emotional skills.
The BIG goals:
1. Students will be able to identify all letters of the alphabet and their sounds
2. Students will be able to count to 25 independently, count to 50 using a number chart, and count to 100 by 5s and 10s (using a number chart and/or body movements)
3. Students will "be a good listener and speaker" (taking turns to talk/raising hand, actively participating, helping peers, being kind)
Secondary Goals:
4. Students will be able to identify 5 basic shapes and describe them: circle, triangle, square, rectangle, rhombus (diamond)
5. Students will be able to sing or recite the days of the week and the months of the year and utilize a calendar
6. Students will be able to identify the beginning, middle, and end sounds in a spoken word
7. Students will be able to subitize to 10 (identify a number of objects without counting)

Parental Guidance
Safety note: For this class, students will be doing a variety of activities that reinforce the concepts they learn, including movement. This means that there will be times where your child might be standing, sitting, moving their arms or legs, or doing light physical tasks such as stretches.
Please make sure that your learning environment includes extra space for your child to do these activities. I always aim to be inclusive, so if your child needs any modifications due to their mobility or any other reason, please let me know.
Supply List
Small whiteboard 3 whiteboard markers; at least one black marker Whiteboard eraser (a clean sock works well for this!) If we are doing a special or holiday activity, I will provide a supply list in advance of the lesson.
