Beginner Level
Got too many Squishmallows or Jellycats and don't know what to do with them all? Turn your plushies into stars of their very own stop-motion animation! In this fun and creative class, students will learn how to animate their plush toys and bring their favorite characters to life. They’ll explore the basics of stop-motion animation, including capturing individual frames, creating simple movements, and telling a short, fun story using their plush friends. The hands-on class is structured to keep kids engaged and use their creative juices. We’ll start with a brief introduction a stop motion technique, then dive right into animation! Each student will set up their plush characters, adjust them frame by frame, and watch their creations come to life. Whether your child is an aspiring animator or simply loves their plushies, this class will spark their creativity and give them a new way to enjoy their collection!

This class is designed to support students with unique learning needs, including ADHD, Dyslexia, and ASD, by offering step-by-step instruction and a flexible, engaging environment.
Parental Guidance
We will be using the stop-motion animation program Stop Motion Studio Pro (available for $5.99) on a mobile device (iPad, iPhone, tablet, etc.) Please help your learner download this application on their device prior to the class.

To complete the class, students will need the following materials: - Smart device with camera (iPad, Tablet, or Laptop) - Case or stand that can stabalize Smart device on table - Stop Motion Studio ($5.99 on App Store) - Plushy or favorite toy

I received an MFA in Creative Producing from Columbia University, along with a BA in Film & Video from Grand Valley State University. As an experienced educator with a background in both film and media, I have taught stop-motion animation to students of all ages, including children, teens, and adults. I have worked with children in various settings, from afterschool programs to summer camps, where I facilitated hands-on creative workshops in filmmaking, animation, and storytelling.
