Beginner Level
In this class, I will be teaching oil painting and the techniques it takes to learn it. I will cover how to manage paint and tools, basic color theory, stenciling, portraits, still life paintings, and more. I plan on created a curriculum of pre-recorded class that students can learn at their own pace and will ask for photos of completed paintings after most of our sessions for a participation grade and critique.

Lesson 1:
Intro to Class Video
This is an introduction to the class, which covers why oil painting is useful and important! 1 assignment
Lesson 2:
Basics of Oil Paint and Tools
This lesson displays how to manage oil paint, paintbrushes, tools, and how to prepare canvases with stenciling. 6 mins of video lessons
Lesson 3:
Composition
Composition covers the way paintings are structured. We will cover rule of thirds, shapes and forms, and layering with paint. 1 assignment

Values and Color Theory
In this lesson, we will study values (or the shade and light of a painting) as well as basic color theory. 1 assignment

SUPPLIES LIST: 1. Paintbrushes 2. Oil Paint 3. Canvas panel, canvas, or oil paper 4. Saral Tracing Paper 5. Acrylic Paint (Grey, or black and white) 6. Pencil 7. Palette or paper plate for mixing colors 8. Palette knives (optional) 9. Paint thinner (optional) 10. Dish soap for cleaning brushes (optional) 11. Latex or Nitrite Gloves (optional)
