In this class, we will learn beginner techniques to oil painting. We will learn together, and create paintings together!

US Grade 5
Beginner Level
In this class, I will be teaching oil painting and the techniques it takes to learn it. I will cover how to manage paint and tools, basic color theory, stenciling, portraits, still life paintings, and more. I plan on created a curriculum of pre-recorded class that students can learn at their own pace and will ask for photos of completed paintings after most of our sessions for a participation grade and critique.

Unit 1: Introduction to Oil Painting
Lesson 1:
Intro to Class Video
 This is an introduction to the class, which covers why oil painting is useful and important!

Lesson 2:
Basics of Oil Paint and Tools
 This lesson displays how to manage oil paint, paintbrushes, tools, and how to prepare canvases with stenciling.

Lesson 3:
Composition
 Composition covers the way paintings are structured. We will cover rule of thirds, shapes and forms, and layering with paint. 
Lesson 4:
Values and Color Theory
 In this lesson, we will study values (or the shade and light of a painting) as well as basic color theory.
