Intermediate Level
We will be building off what was learning in the Intro to Oil Painting class, and developing new skills! In this class, I will teach preservation techniques like varnishing and using mixing mediums. We will also focus more on the tiny details and aspects in paintings, focusing on parts of anatomy and backgrounds. There will be a lot of new things to cover and explore in this painting class!

over 8 WeeksLesson 1:
Introduction to Intermediate Oil Painting
I will explain the classes objectives and what we will study. We will give a brief background on the prerequisites on what to learn in oil painting, and then explore new lessons to come!

Lesson 2:
Techniques: Glazing and Scumbling
In this lesson, we will discuss two important oil painting techniques: glazing and scumbling. These can really work together beautifully in a painting, and take it to the next level.
Lesson 3:
Techniques Part II: Impasto and S'graffito
With Impasto, we cover adding thick paint for texture. With S'graffito we experiment with scratching away bits of paint to reveal layers.
Lesson 4:
Mixing Mediums and Varnishing
Varnishing helps paintings stand the test of time. But is it all it's cracked up to be? We explore varnishing and how it's meant to keep paintings alive for centuries to come.

Either have taken Intro to Oil Painting class or have familiarity with basic oil painting skills.
