This class gives an introduction to Java. Java is a great programming language for teenagers to learn. In this class, we will start with language syntax, variables, reserved words, operations on various data types. We will then teach if conditions, for and while loops to do basic algorithms. We will then learn how to think in an object oriented way and create classes. Learners will be challenged to design a problem of their liking and discuss which classes and methods would be involved....

Learners will learn the basics of the Java programming language and learn to solve some basic algorithmic problems.

Every class will end with some homework problems posted to the classroom. These should be done before the next class and the code posted back before the next class. The homework will not be very difficult but it would help learners solidify their programming skills.0 - 1 hours per week outside of class
