Did you ever want to find out what Biotechnology is really all about? My students will learn about the basics of the biotech industry from a teacher who has spent many years working in the industry. We will cover a brief history of genetic engineering and the biotech industry and what accomplishments have been achieved. The science behind genetic engineering and its applications will also be explored. The course will include my own materials, video presentations, and diagrams. Students will have the opportunity to ask questions and discuss their level of knowledge about biotechnology. We will cover a few examples of biotech drug development in some detail.
Learning Goals
Students will have a clearer understanding of what genetic engineering is about, and how it led to the creation of the biotech industry. actually is. We will discuss what it has achieved, some of it's down side and where it's heading in the future.
