Description
Class Experience
Code is a varied and complex process. It requires new languages and skills. This class is focussed on the Engineering Design Process to combine software and hardware to create something all your own. This class uses the 1-1 format to assess a student’s skills, interests, and resources to set a project goal. Classes then convert to the process of hardware engineering, code building and refining, and artistic finishing to create unique projects. Class 1, February 9: Inventory: assessing the...
Students will learn the engineering design process while pursuing a personally developed goal. The finished project will be a well-engineered, polished prototype,
Some building procedures and art tasks are time intensive and will be assigned for homework.
Learner supplies can be developed based on initial goals. If parts need to be ordered, the order of building might be adjusted or expanded to accommodate delivery times.
The process will be assessed based on the following criteria: Inventory, (existing skills and resources) Prototyping, (solving mechanical and code challenges theoretically) Hardware mechanics, (the build process) Software Coding, (functional graphic coding) and Artistic skills. (Aesthetic finishing of a product) is These are the foundations of the engineering design process.
55 minutes per class, and an estimated 0 - 1 hours per week outside of class.
Projects might require hand tools and hot glue. Safety will be my first priority. Some engineering requires toy hacking, which can be discussed in the inventory stage.
