Introduction to 3D Printing With Weekly New Design
What's included
1 live meeting
45 mins in-class hours per weekClass Experience
Computer-aided design (CAD) skills will be taught using online software TinkerCAD (free). Topics covered will be ideation techniques (planning your designs with sketches and research), CAD design techniques, object orientation, 3D model slicing, print support planning, and material settings. Each week, students can work on their own designs. They will be introduced to TinkerCAD and the instructor will demonstrate one CAD design. Each student is expected to complete their design independently. Continuing students will develop their own projects with the instructor’s help. During each sessions, we will share tips to make useful 3D shapes that can successfully print. We will discuss how 3D printing works, and the various types of machines that can be used to fabricate those designs. Each student will experience how a CAD model is sliced, converted to GCode, and then sent to a 3D printer for fabrication. We built a remote fabrication platform that is available for fabrication for students residing in North America. We will be making this available for students from Europe and South Asia soon. Any prints made using our remote fabrication system (optional) will also include a high definition timelapse video. You can see examples of these on our YouTube channel - bit.ly/bamcytube - For this class, you do NOT need to create an account on TinkerCAD. Our instructor will provide you with a class code and / or link to join. This does not require you to enter any personal information. - A 3D printer is not required to participate in this class. - Competency in using a computer and basic web browsing skills are essential for this class. - Printing your 3D model using our remote fabrication platform is optional. Your instructor will explain how you can prepare your design to print remotely during the class session. Currently, this option is available only to students residing in North America.
Learning Goals
Students will learn to use the online CAD software TinkerCAD and the basics of GCode generating software Ultimaker Cura.

Inspire Creativity. Build Confidence. Learn by Making.
At Be A Maker Club, we turn curiosity into creation. Founded by a parent who began teaching his own daughter how to design and build using 3D printing, our club grew out of a simple desire: to help kids bring their ideas to life. Today, we empower young makers everywhere to imagine, design, and create real-world products—all from the comfort of home.
Our instructors aren’t just teachers—they’re experienced product designers who guide students through the exciting world of 3D modeling and prototyping. Through our hands-on, project-based approach, your child will learn how to turn the ideas in their head into tangible, 3D-printed creations.
And yes—it’s all remote-friendly. Students design from home, and we take care of the rest, including the option to ship their final printed parts straight to your door.
Be A Maker Club was born because one child couldn’t stop asking, “Can I make this?” That spark of curiosity started a movement—and we’d love to help ignite that same passion in your child.
