Class Experience

US Grade 1 - 3
Students should be able to independently write a complete sentence or have an adult sit with them and help during class. Students will write a 5-7 sentence paragraph during each day of this class.

Paragraphs are so important in writing. It is not enough to simply have good ideas. Ideas need to be organized and easy to read.

This class will alternate between four different paragraph types: opinion, informative, narrative and persuasive. We use the hamburger paragraph writing method to organize and write a paragraph. We complete four steps (brainstorm, organize, correct mistakes, final draft) with the final outcome being a great paragraph.

Each day before class, a different set of worksheets will be uploaded for students to print and bring to class. Each worksheet has a fun topic that students will write about.

Day 1: Opinion Paragraph
Day 2: Narrative Paragraph
Day 3: Informative Paragraph
Day 4: Persuasive Paragraph
