Class Experience

US Grade 2 - 5
Beginner Level
In our one time lesson, students will interact with one another and the teacher to practice their new signs. We will first begin the lesson by learning different animal signs. Children can interact with one another by sharing their favorite animal. We will then learn about popular foods. We will learn to sign sentences about our favorite foods and animals as well as additional, important vocabulary words that can be used in conversations. Throughout the course, students will have the chance to ask questions and play games.
Learning Goals
Students will learn to use animal and food signs in phrases and scenarios, like at a zoo or restaurant. The goal is to have the student leave the class being able to use signs to tell their family or friends about their favorite foods or animals.

Hello!
My name is Teacher Stephanie and I am so excited to be a part of Outschool. I look forward to meeting your child and sharing my knowledge in various subjects. The areas which I'm most passionate about are Language (American Sign Language) and Behavioral Science. I have both an Associate's and Bachelor's degree in American Sign Language Interpreting as well as Health Care Management. I currently work as a behavioral therapist while pursing my Master's Degree in ABA with a focus on Autism. I have experience teaching students from across the globe and I love connecting and learning about their cultures. I believe in the power of learning through scaffolding and visual representation. Everyone is capable of learning something new as long as they are willing to put in the effort. I like to have fun in the classroom and relate subjects to student's lives in order to keep them engaged and excited about learning. When I am not teaching, I love spending time with my husband and 6 year-old son. I enjoy partaking in sports and outdoor activities, cooking and traveling.
