US Grade 8 - 11
Intermediate - Advanced Level
Kindly note: This is an ESL friendly class, CEFR level — C1, C2 (Advanced) Please feel free to write me via Outschool email with questions. *** School interviews, job interviews, going somewhere unknown and meeting new people. We all do these things. We are all slightly terrified of these things. We don’t have to be! For the learner: This class will put you in charge, let you find the confidence within yourself to make the connections you need to make, create the impressions you want others to have of you, allow you to make the friendships that will last a lifetime. In an interview you have one opportunity to show your best self. *** These are the clear, straightforward steps we will cover in this class: 1. How to make a great first impression from the very first second of an interview (that matters A LOT) 2. How to get over biases (we all have them. Getting past them is essential for making connections). 3. How to develop the essentials: Eye Contact Facial Expression Body Language 4. How to really get to know yourself--and respect yourself--and your capabilities. 5. How to make your interviewer feel comfortable (Yes--this is REALLY important). 6. How to master a straightforward plan for always responding to questions (this is based on the extemporaneous speech from Speech and Debate) 7. How to use pauses effectively in speech (so you don't speak too quickly or too slowly and can always be understood) 8. How to dress and present yourself. Learning how to master the interview is an essential life skill that each of us will use for always. It's the skill that will open doors for you and let you pursue your dreams. You’ve worked hard. You deserve it! So go ahead. Show the world who you are through the interview. Let the world appreciate who you are. Make you—and others—happier and more connected people. IMPORTANT NOTES: This class will provide at home practice techniques as well as a video opportunity for teacher response. All of my classes are limited to six learners to allow every learner to have a voice in the classroom.
