Intermediate Level
"Do you have a class where you can edit my child's writing and help them improve as a writer?" "Can you correct my child's work and help them understand their mistakes?" Many parents/guardians have asked me these types of questions during my time teaching on Outschool. Therefore I developed this course as the answer. This 1:1 writing course is a companion class to my group writing course "Intermediate Writing Club." In "Intermediate Writing Club" we meet in a group setting each week and practice a different aspect of writing. (Please use the link to the class listing below if you are interested.) In this course, "Individual Writing Conferences," each week I will assign a homework assignment that will take 15-20 minutes to complete. The assignment is based on what we have practiced in our group writing class "Intermediate Writing Club" that week. Your learner will complete the writing assignment independently. You will submit their work to me. I will analyze their writing and create a personalized lesson based on your learner's writing needs that I observe in their writing. During our 1:1 class time together we will review their work, practice ways to improve their writing, and help them develop confidence when writing. As this is an individualized course, the topics that we will focus on will be dependent upon your learner's unique writing needs. Our lessons would progress at your learner's individual pace. Examples of topics we could practice: -Adding strong introductions/conclusions -Organizing writing in paragraph form -The use of transition words -Word choice -Spelling -Punctuation/ Grammar rules Link to Intermediate Writing Club- https://outschool.com/classes/intermediate-writing-club-pAsvI4wk?usid=TddZsBOS&signup=true&utm_campaign=share_activity_link
Learning Goals
Students will receive individualized instruction based on the written assignments that they submit. Students will improve their writing skills through repetition, practice, and lessons that are tailored to their specific writing needs.
