Each week children will be introduced to focused grammar or punctuation rules so that they can apply it to their writing. Learners will need to be at a stage where they are sounding out all their words and writing sentences. This class will follow a similar structure every week: - Introduce and teach grammar and punctuation rules: using a 'I try, we try, you try' method - Go into a short visualisation guided by my voice that prompts them to imagine something different each week - We will...
Students will learn how to: - Combine words to make sentences and leave spaces between words - Use capital letters, full stops, exclamation marks - Question marks and speech marks - Articles - a, an, the - Know the four types of sentences: statements, questions, exclamations and commands - Join words and clauses using 'and' - Join clauses using a range of conjunctions (and, but, because, although, so - Use capital letters for names and using 'I' properly - Turn words into plurals using s or es - Add adjectives to our sentences - What are verbs and adding suffixes to verbs without changing the root word - Using un to change the meaning of verbs and adjectives - Use past and present tense correctly and consistently - Suffixes such as ness or er to form nouns - Using suffixes such as ful or less,to form adjectives and ly turn them into adverbs - Comparative language er and est and - Commas to separate items in a list - Apostrophes to mark a possession or contractions - Expressing time, place and cause with conjunctions, adverbs and preposition
