In this full-year IEW writing class, students write about exciting topics such as the Bayeux Tapestry, tsunamis, the Crusades, and other fascinating topics while they learn to write with structure and style.

Beginner Level
Follows Institute for Excellence in Writing (IEW) Curriculum
**Important Note: This class begins in September.** ****This is a full-year, two-semester class.****Breaks will be scheduled. In this beginner IEW writing class, students write about fascinating topics such as Tsunamis and Alfred the Great while they learn to write with Structure and Style. This is a Level A class. Students must be able to read at a fourth-grade level or higher. Students will have homework to turn in. Students must be able to type or neatly handwrite their assignments...
Students will gain confidence in writing. Students will grow their vocabulary. Students will improve their English grammar.
I am an accredited IEW instructor.
Homework Offered
Students will complete key word outlines, brainstorm dress-ups, and type their essays.1 - 2 hours per week outside of class
Assessments Offered
Students who submit their papers will receive feedback and edits from me. Learner progress is assessed through the completion of assignments and participation in class.Grades Offered

Parents may need to help their students turn in the assigned homework. Nearpod will occasionally be used to collaborate on ideas and play review games. World religions, events, and people are discussed.
IEW Discoveries in Writing student book: https://iew.com/shop/products/discoveries-writing-student-book-only Students may choose to use Google Docs to type their papers. These should be saved as a PDF and uploaded in the classroom. At times, the Nearpod app will be used. Students will be given notice for class sessions that will utilize this.
