Class Experience

Each week of this course we will look at the theory of human evolution and the process of paleoanthropology. We will start with the earliest primate fossils and work our way through early species of human ancestors (such as “Lucy” Australopithecus afarensis, and others) and of our genus Homo right through to Neandertals and the first humans. We will also discuss the latest discoveries in human evolution. This class is for older students and meets once per week for four weeks.

Week 1: Introduction, what is human evolution and paleoanthropology?
Week 2: Early primates.
Week 3: Early Human ancestors.
Week 4: Neadertals, the first humans, course wrap up and final questions.

Learner time is 45 to 60 minutes per week depending on class enrollment and participation.
