This class will cover the basics of being a Dungeon Master for Dungeons and dragons. We will go over how to make encounters, how to create compelling NPCs (non-player characters) and how to plan story arcs for campaigns. We will cover one of these topics each week, and students will be encouraged to create examples during class both to share and to show that they understand the material. The class will be a mixture of lecture and discussion, with the students asking questions and bouncing ideas off of each other as well as the teacher. I will provide examples to give them ideas and resources. It is recommended that the students have a good grasp on the basics of the rules for Dungeons and Dragons for this course.

Teacher expertise and credentials
Hello! I teach classes on Dungeons and Dragons, a fun and engaging tabletop role-playing game for all ages. D&D can foster creativity, problem solving skills, and cooperation in children. I am a Psychology major in my final year, and I have been playing D&D for about 9 years. I also moderate panels on D&D each year at one of the biggest gaming conventions in the US. I hope to teach children the fun of old-fashioned, pen and paper games and foster out of the box thinking through imagination and cooperation.
