Class Experience

Learn how to run games as a Dungeon Master for D&D 5th Edition. This course covers everything you need to run your own games for your friends and family.

Day 1: Your Rules, Your Vision, Your Table
Day 2: Build an Engaging World
Day 3: Get Your Players Hooked
Day 4: Bring It All Together

We will use DnDBeyond.com, Fantasy Grounds Unity, Kahoot, and references from Dungeons & Dragons to explore the art of being a Dungeon Master. Every class will expect students to show respect, tolerance, and inclusivity. Being a Dungeon Master requires a lot of creativity, patience, and an ability to help others relax and have fun. Running games takes preparation, but the reward is, in my opinion, the best experience you can achieve in gaming.

This is an introductory course to being a Dungeon Master, but it is not an introduction to Dungeons & Dragons. If you are brand new to the game, I recommend that you take my "D&D Gaming: Learn How to Play Dungeons & Dragons With Me!" class on Outschool. Every new Dungeon Master should be familiar with the rules of D&D 5e, and that course will quickly catch you up to speed. You will not need any other resources to attend either class.

Please join if you want to create memorable experiences to share with the people you care about! I hope to see you at my table!

Other Details

Parental Guidance
Dungeons & Dragons is a Fantasy Role Playing Game, and as such, may contain scenes of imagined suspense or combat. I will ensure that material discussed in the class remains age appropriate, and no learners will be permitted to Role Play acts of violence.
Supply List
All D&D 5e resources will be viewable for class purposes, but students may wish to invest in the following on their own, for maximum preparedness: D&D 5e Players Handbook, D&D 5e Dungeon Master's Guide, and the D&D 5e Monster Manual. Purchase of these books is optional for the class, but recommended for long-term play. It is also possible to begin a game with either the D&D 5e Essentials Kit or the D&D 5e Starter Set, both of which I have found to be fantastic. Those two packages include dice, rules, and encounters to get a game going with ease!
