Learn to dance with a hoop; it's great exercise, we'll learn beginner tricks and there's no dance or hoop experience required!
Grab your hoop and join me as we learn four off-body hoop tricks (off-body tricks are when we hold the hoop in our hands). No experience is needed! We will review safety with the hoop and briefly warm-up. The following tricks will be learned: smear, horizontal isolation down, two handed mandala, and the isolation barrel roll. By the end of the class students will be able to demonstrate how to quickly warm up with the hoop, students will identify safe locations for hooping, and students will have begun to practice four new hoop tricks. Students will have begun to put the tricks together to create a flow.
I have been practicing hoop dance for a year and have three years of experience teaching in a private, college-prep school.
There is no homework; however, I will send tutorial links to the tricks learned should learners wish to practice more.
A hula hoop or dance hoop. Some hoops are weighted for fitness and can be rather heavy; these fitness style hoops may be more challenging for the learner to work with.
Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.
I will monitor learner progress through the class and offer troubleshooting as needed.
55 minutes per week in class, and maybe some time outside of class.
