Description
Class Experience
We will be learning how to start a crochet project with a slipknot and how to hold the yarn. Then we will learn the chain stitch, and slip stitch. When given the time to practice these two stitches, learners will naturally get better at keeping good tension, and making uniform stitches. which is a good base to create more complicated stitches. We will then make a pretty garland or flower, whichever the class decides! If your student needs extra help, I am pleased to stay after class to...
Students will learn how to tie a slip knot and put it on the hook, how to hold the yarn, the chain stitch, and the slip stitch, and will have started a garland or flower project they can finish during or after class.
The student needs worsted weight yarn and one of either an I, J or K (5 to 6mm) crochet hook. If you choose a bigger yarn, please select a bigger crochet hook, such as an 8 to 10mm. Metal hooks tend to be easier to use for beginners, but be sure there are no burrs on them.
Worsted weight yarn Crochet hook in size I, J, or K (5 to 6mm) If you choose thicker yarn, such as "bulky" or "super bulky", you will need bigger hooks like M,N, or O (8 to 10mm). Keep in mind that it is difficult for young learners to work with a hook that is too small for the yarn they are working with.
55 minutes per week in class, and an estimated 0 - 1 hours per week outside of class.
