Class Experience

US Grade 4 - 7
Join us for an engaging online drawing class designed especially for homeschool children ages 9 to 13! In this fun and educational workshop, young artists will learn to draw and color 20 of the most common and beloved backyard birds. Each session will focus on a different bird, including the American Robin, Northern Cardinal, Blue Jay, House Sparrow, and many more.

Our step-by-step lessons will guide students through the process of sketching each bird's unique features, from the bright red feathers of the Northern Cardinal to the bold patterns of the Blue Jay. In addition to drawing, children will learn interesting facts about each bird, such as their habitats, diets, and behaviors.

To reinforce learning, we'll play a fun review game that helps students remember what they've learned about each bird. By the end of the course, students will not only have a collection of beautiful bird drawings but also a deeper appreciation for the wildlife in their own backyards.

Profile
Teacher expertise and credentials
I am an artist and photographer specializing in fine art, photography, and art education. I am also an avid reader and I love to discuss books and draw out my ideas and perceptions from them. In addition, I have been a homeschool educator for 16 years. I have taught children's art classes privately and through local after school and children's museum programs. Her photography has appeared in Parents Magazine and numerous photography blogs. I enjoy finding connections between things that don't seem connected upon first glance. To do that, I divide things down to their simplest parts and look for similarities. As a result I am able to break down seemingly complicated projects into simple step by step lessons. I also have a great appreciation for irony in art and life and try to infuse humor and silliness in my lessons and in my own work as well.
