In this three day course, we will be learning everything henna. On the first day, we will focus on the symbolism behind many henna designs and how/why they are used in a cultural sense, we will then start to practice and design our own on paper. The second day will be focused on practicing different designs with both a pencil as well as an actual henna tube (both on paper), we will also start to sketch out our final designs. The third and final day, we will again start by practicing sketching...
Students will learn and improve their skills and knowledge related to henna as they practice, design, and create their own pieces.
There is no homework, but practicing outside of class is always encouraged :)
1. Paper 2. Pencil, black marker, and black pen 3. 1-2 Henna tubes https://worldlygoodsfairtrade.square.site/product/henna-cone/246?cp=true&sa=false&sbp=false&q=true (This is an amazing price for henna, already made, and not watery. Plus this is an amazing organization!) 4. A volunteer for the 3rd day of class (If no one is available, that's ok and the student can work on their paper design. It's just a fun ending to the class when they get to share their work with a friend or family member and complete their design on an actual person.)
Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.
2 hours 15 minutes per week in class, and an estimated 0 - 1 hours per week outside of class.
Henna is a natural skin dye produced from the Lawsonia Inermis plant, originating from India. The results from a henna tattoo are like a temporary tattoo and depending on how long it is left on the skin, as well as the location, it can last anywhere from 4 days - 2 weeks. Although many people don't have any reaction at all, since henna is a natural product, some might experience a slight itchy irritation or even a very bad rash. In the material list, I will add a link to where you can purchase natural henna who very few people have had a reaction to. With that being said, if you feel as though your student might have a reaction, that is no problem at all and they can still join, they will just focus more on the design aspect.
