US Grade Kindergarten - 2
Beginner Level
Each week students in this beginner's art class will meet to create artwork Masterpieces together! In this ongoing class, every painting will be inspired by animals and nature. The perfect introduction to art and creativity. Ideal for Kindergarten, 1st grade, and 2nd grade students. One week we may draw & paint a tall, beautiful giraffe in a safari landscape and another week we may draw & paint a tiny dragonfly hovering over a still lake. Every week will be a new masterpiece and a new adventure around the world! Each class is a standalone class and learners can join at any time. Also I teach the same class Monday- Friday at many different times so please feel free to switch to a different class time if your schedule doesn't allow you to join at the usual class time. This class is perfect for parents and learners with busy schedules as it's very flexible! There is a new animal every week to be confirmed on the classroom dashboard before each class. We learn about nature, as well as Zoology and a touch of geography, whilst we draw and paint. We will also learn painting and drawing techniques (such as watercolor), whilst we build skills and confidence! Our mission is to learn, create, and have fun whilst we use our imagination! This is an interactive class, perfect for learners who love art, nature and animals. It is ideal for building practical art and drawing skills, as well as artistic confidence. The Explorer's Art Club will allow learners to share their passion with others and fine-tune their observational skills. It is also great for listening, communication and comprehension skills. We often listen to classical music in the background, such as Mozart, to help with learners' development (improves listening skills, brain function and creativity). I will be giving simplified step by step instructions for each week’s subject. I use a teaching technique called directed drawing. I simplify the drawings down into simple lines and shapes and show how to draw each step of the way. Students will also be encouraged to be creative and add their unique touch and style to paintings! I look forward to supporting each learner in their own individual artistic and learning journey. Every child is an artist and every child is talented. My goal is to foster this uniqueness and help build learner's self-confidence. The subject and supply list will be posted in advance each week. However, the basic supplies to have on hand are listed in the supplies section below. We often use acrylic paint or watercolors. Although I recommend art supplies for each class, learners are welcome to use whatever art supplies they prefer or have on hand. Please feel free to message me directly with any questions. Young Learners: Due to many requests, I have now opened this class up to 4 year olds as well. :) If parents could kindly just be nearby to mute and unmute your learner when they would like to answer questions. Thanks very much! Also I recommend printing out the coloring pages for learners who prefer to color in. They are also welcome to follow my step by step instructions of the subject for that week if they prefer. Looking forward to seeing your learners in class! I can’t wait to meet your artistic explorers in class! ______________________________________________________________________ What to expect in this class: - WELCOME students! - SHARE time with friends ("anything fun you did this week or something you would like to share?") - INTRODUCTION TO THE ANIMAL of the week and a look at the map to find out where the animal lives. - STEP-BY-STEP DRAWING of the animal (also often explain to students that all of our artwork is going to be unique!) - PAINT/COLOR drawing- time to be creative and add whatever your little artist would like to his/her artwork! Teacher will guide students through painting techniques. Students are free to follow along or can also paint/color however they choose. - WATCH EDUCATIONAL VIDEO CLIPS to discover the animal (usually 1-2 video clips of 1 min each depending on animal & clip) - SHARE ARTWORK. Students have the opportunity to share their artwork (this is voluntary but we love to see students' artwork if they feel comfortable to share). -Goodbye for this week and looking forward to seeing your little artist for the next one! ______________________________________________________________________ IMPORTANT NOTES: FLEXIBLE CLASS OPTION: Due to very busy and changing schedules, as well as different time zones some families choose this option for learning. Some learners sign up for this class and do not attend the meeting. Instead, they receive a recording of the class and watch it in their own time. Students can then take a photo of their finished painting/drawing and send it to me so I can give positive feedback via message or video. Please send me a message if you choose the Flexible Class option so that I can ensure I share the recording with you. *Please remember that if you choose the flexible class option, Outschool will automatically unenroll your student after 3 weeks of not attending. Therefore, you will need to sign up again every 3 weeks. SWITCH INTO ANOTHER CLASS TIME: If a schedule conflict happens please let me know and I can switch your little artist into another class time that week. I have many class times for the same class every week. I really love for this class to be flexible for students and their families. I can also share the recording or you can also put the class on pause for the week you will be away. ENGLISH NOT NECESSARY: Your child does not need to speak English to take this class! He/she can follow along and watch the steps of the drawing. It really helps with English emersion! Please just remind me before the class via message or in the chat. ______________________________________________________________________ #draw #paint #kidsdraw #animals #learnaboutanimals #outschoolclass #zoology #science #drawingfun #drawing #painting #stepbystepdrawing #drawingisfun #outschool #outschooldraw #drawingclass #drawclass #art #artclass

I have advanced training in fine arts drawing and painting. I have also taught drawing and painting to University Students and have been a homeschool teacher for a small group of preschoolers. In my classroom children create their own masterpieces whilst they learn about an interesting and educational subject. I am passionate about teaching children through Art History and the Arts. Children can learn so much about our world through these subjects. History, Culture, and Geography are just three subjects that are incredibly interwoven within Art History and the Arts. Learning from this perspective makes learning fun and engaging. I love seeing children grow and encouraging them on their learning journey. My goal is to make every child feel special and that they can achieve anything to which they put their minds.
