Help! I Need to Memorize My Multiplication Facts

This class is designed to be fun, interactive and give students the ability to see patterns in numbers in order to memorize their multiplication and division facts. This class was created so that students will focus on one topic a week in which they have a full week to practice and do various activities and games to finally have those facts memorized. Each week students will be given a video to watch that is 5-10 minutes long to watch before class. When we meet as a class I will go over the concept and then we will do actvivities to help commit those facts to memory. These lessons are interactive and not passive and students are doing and learning. 


We start off this course with an understanding and visual representation of multiplication and division. Next we dig further into how multiplication and division work together. Next we focus memorization of a number. We look for patterns as well as how knowing one fact can help us remember another, create anchor charts to help us and play games to aid in memorization. 


Week 1 Lesson 1
Understanding Multiplication
In this lesson we will learn how the class is set up and about visual representations of multiplication  such as arrays, array grids and tape diagrams. We will use the 1's, 5's and 10's as our main examples, but will incorporate other examples as well. 

Week 2 Lesson 2
Understanding Division
In this lesson we will learn how to use multiplication to help us with division as well as focus on the zeros, ones and tens. Students will have fun activities to do during class and to continue the rest of the week. We will use the 1's, 5's and 10's as our main examples, but will incorporate other examples as well.

Week 3 Lesson 3
For this lesson we will learn about multiplying and dividing by two. Activities that involve practicing 10-15 minutes a day will include games, flashcards, worksheets and art activities. 

Week 4 Lesson 4
For this lesson we will learn about multiplying and dividing by three. Activities that involve practicing 10-15 minutes a day will include games, flashcards, worksheets and art activities. 

Week 5 Lesson 5
For this lesson we will learn about multiplying and dividing by four. Activities that involve practicing 10-15 minutes a day will include games, flashcards, worksheets and art activities. 

Week 6 Lesson 6
For this lesson we will learn about multiplying and dividing by six. Activities that involve practicing 10-15 minutes a day will include games, flashcards, worksheets and art activities. 

Week 7 Lesson 7
For this lesson we will learn about multiplying and dividing by seven. Activities that involve practicing 10-15 minutes a day will include games, flashcards, worksheets and art activities. 

Week 8 Lesson 8
For this lesson we will learn about multiplying and dividing by eight. Activities that involve practicing 10-15 minutes a day will include games, flashcards, worksheets and art activities. 

Week 9Lesson 9
For this lesson we will learn about multiplying and dividing by nine. Activities that involve practicing 10-15 minutes a day will include games, flashcards, worksheets and art activities. 

Week 10 Lesson 10
This lesson will focus on reviewing concepts and ways to continue to practice your facts such as games, activities and finding factors of a number.
