Description

Class Experience

Students will learn practical ways to get involved in politics. We will focus on how to communicate with elected officials, volunteer, attend demonstrations, talk to family and friends, and keep ourselves informed about political issues.
I have a PhD in political science and have taught introductory politics classes at the college level. I have also tutored teens in AP US Government. I look forward to sharing my knowledge and passion about this topic with this age group!

A one-page handout will be provided upon enrollment. Please also bring a pen or pencil.
50 minutes per week in class, and maybe some time outside of class.
In order to show students how to contact or volunteer for political campaigns, I will be sharing several websites affiliated with candidates and/or elected officials. These will be drawn from across the political spectrum, will be used as examples only, and will not be endorsed. I will also be sharing some data on the political leanings of various media outlets.
