This class will focus on learning to write number 0-10. The students will identify the number, use play dough to form the letter, trace and write the letter, and practice rote counting and counting objects 0-10. We will begin each class by identifying the numbers of the day. The students will learn to roll playdough into "snakes" to form the numbers. They will learn how to hold a writing utensil, where to begin the numbers, and correct orientation. They will learn the correct language for the strokes used to make each number. In each lesson, we will focus on two numbers. Students will learn vocabulary to understand direction and strokes used for each number. If you are unable to print the handouts, you can recreate them using markers or highlighters. The star is very important so please use a dark colored marker to draw the star, and a light colored marker to write the number. The playdough part of class may be a little difficult for your child AT FIRST. I will be showing them how to roll their playdough into "snakes." The more classes they take, the easier it will become. I ask that an adult or older sibling is near by to help the child the first few lessons to help them learn to roll their playdough correctly. Again, it will get easier with the more times they do it. Your student will hear the same introductions and language used every class even if they began the first lesson because repetition is key in handwriting. Every class will be a little different in that every class will have two new numbers. The discussion of number 1 will be very different than the discussion of number 3. I look forward to meeting your child in class!
Learning Goals
The students will learn the correct formation for writing the numbers, identify the numbers, rote count and count objects 0-10.

Supply List
-At least 1 cup of any color play dough -2 plastic sheet protectors with the 2 "play dough" worksheets (that I will be providing) inside. If you do not have access to a printer, you can easily create the worksheet I will be including. Please see attachments. -1 crayon is preferred and age-appropriate, however a pencil can also be used! :) *Beginners have a difficult time holding normal-sized pencils with the correct grip. A crayon or small pencil helps the student learn correct pencil grip. A pencil broken in half works perfectly. This is only a recommendation, a normal sized pencil, crayon, or marker will also work. -I will also be providing 2 worksheets to practice tracing and writing the number using a crayon, pencil or marker. Again, if you do not have access to a printer, you can easily create it by copying what I made OR your child can practice writing the letters on a blank sheet of paper. Either will work perfectly fine. My worksheets will just have a guide as to where to start the number, and some practice numbers to trace.
External Resources
Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.
