In this class, participants will utilize essential sewing skills to create a cozy pair of pajama pants utilizing the fabric of their choice.

Class experience

5 lessons//5 Weeks
 Week 1
Lesson 1
Pattern and fabric cutting
To properly prepare for class, learners must watch the two videos provided with the welcome message in the classroom. This will ensure learners come to class with the correct fabric and the correct amount of fabric. They will also have properly printed and assembled their pattern. In our first live session, we'll be focusing on cutting the pattern and the fabric.
 Week 2
Lesson 2
Finish cutting and beginning clipping/pinning
If additional cutting is necessary, we'll continue that work from week one before beginning our pinning and clipping of cut pattern pieces.
 Week 3
Lesson 3
Finish clipping and begin to sew
If additional pinning/clipping is necessary, we'll continue that work from week two before beginning the sewing process.
 Week 4
Lesson 4
Sewing
We'll continue the sewing our pajama pants.
 Week 5
Lesson 5
Project completion!
We'll finish any last steps in the sewing process to complete our pajama pants.
Jaime (she/them) has extensive sewing experience and currently teaches sewing in-person at a local school.  She successfully leads her young learners through projects from beginner to advanced.  Jaime also has experience in the world of children’s theater costume design.  
Jaime is also a homeschool mom who brings warmth and empathy to her classroom.  She is passionate about a wide variety of artistic endeavors and music.  Her learners benefit from her tremendous support and knowledge. 

Ruth (she/her) is a versatile and skilled seamstress with a passion for creativity. Ruth's expertise spans across various sewing projects, from crafting quilts and clothing to delightful toys. Her flair extends to embroidery and intricate hand-stitching techniques, adding unique touches to her creations. During the pandemic, Ruth exemplified her community spirit by collaborating with a local hospital. She took the initiative to produce instructional videos on mask-making, aiding in the effort to combat the shortage of protective gear. Alongside a dedicated team of volunteers, Ruth's contributions resulted in the production of over 30,000 masks—a testament to her commitment to service and innovation. Beyond her sewing talents, Ruth fulfills the role of a dedicated homeschooling mom to her middle schoolers. In her cherished moments of leisure, she immerses herself in the world of literature, indulging in a diverse range of genres from historical fiction to captivating sci-fi adventures. Ruth's passion for creativity, coupled with her altruistic spirit and love for learning, embodies a truly inspiring individual.
Fabric:  
- Cotton or flannel fabrics are ideal for this project.  Please pre-wash and dry your fabric prior to class. 
- Details on how much fabric to purchase can be found in the two videos provided in the classroom AND the downloaded PDF pattern file 
- 1.5” knit elastic (1 yard if you’re using the youth pattern and 2 yards if you’re using the adult pattern)

Notions and Gadgets:
- Pattern (print at home and assemble with tape) 
- Sewing machine
- 100% polyester thread
- A spare sewing machine needle - They can break, so it is always good to have a spare on-hand.
