Students will need to print out the file and have listed supplies ready for class. This is a hands-on interactive class. Its purpose is to practice following directions, being creative, and to simply have fun. I love to get to know my students personally and help them develop confidence in their abilities. Students will need to follow directions as I model how to create each of 6-9 Halloween characters. The last characters are more advanced than the first (more drawing, more fingerprints, and more following directions). Students will learn how to draw different types of lines (horizontal, vertical, diagonal, curvy, straight) and we will also review some colors and shapes (a background in these would be helpful). The last few minutes of class they will have a chance to get creative and create and share their own fingerprint monsters at the end of class while we listen to some fun Halloween music. I guarantee they will have so much fun, they will just continue to create more characters after class is over too! Please feel free to share their creations on our classroom page or in a message to me! I love to comment on their work!
Learning Goals
Students will practice good listening and following directions, and create an art project with their fingerprints.

Teacher expertise and credentials
Hello!
I am an active educator and I've been teaching children in all kinds of ways for the last 13 years. I have a Bachelors of Science in Elementary Education with an emphasis in Early Childhood Education. I have taught 5th grade in a public charter school, four different preschool settings, subbed in special education and general education K-6, and I currently help train the leaders for children and youth in my church. My favorite kids to teach are my three crazy boys- ages 7, 6, and 3.
I believe in taking hold of children's natural wonder and engaging all learning styles in a complete interactive and uplifting experience. I believe in challenging them, helping them form connections, and giving them lots of positive encouragement. I sing, I move, I apply, I connect, and I use all kinds of resources to help children learn. I am well known for my big smiles and cheers, my enthusiasm and energy, my passion for what I teach, and my love and concern for each student.
When I am not teaching, you can find me outside- my favorite place to be. And if I can't be there, I'm probably cooking something, cleaning something, or creating something while dancing and singing to music.
Thanks for stepping into my classroom!
