US Grade 5 - 7
The topics covered in this class include rounding, scientific notation, exponents, integers and order of operations, mental math as well as long form multiplication and division, factoring, operations involving fractions, decimals, percentages, and proportions, calculations involving different units of measurement as well as geometry of shapes and angles. The class will begin by discussing which grade 6 math topic the student is currently working through. Then, we might go over any notes or textbook content from class. If the student is homeschooled, we briefly discuss what they have covered so far. I assess what kind of knowledge gaps the student has through a series of questions, so that I can begin teaching the necessary concepts for them to gain a strong foundation and understanding of the topic. Students are welcome to use their own notebooks or write entirely on the white board provided on the computer screen.
