In modern times. navigating computers and being able to produce digital work is an important skill. In this class, students will learn the basics of Google Slides. Through modelling and guided practice, I will show students how to produce a digital "presentation". We will discuss how Google Slides have a variety of uses. Together, we will create a digital story while learning how to do many things. Students have a few options regarding how they participate in this class. They can split their screen and attend the Zoom meeting and have Google Slides open to practice during class. They can use another device with Google Slides open during class to practice what we are learning. Or they can participate with my Google Slides that we will create in class; I will share control of my mouse within Zoom and students can practice what they have learned that way. In the first class, students will be introduced to the Google Slides program. They will learn how to: - Create and name a presentation - Add slides and change size if needed - Add text boxes for text - Change text font and size - Add and customize word art - Adding and find images using a kid friendly search engine, and adding from within slides - Resizing images - Order of objects and text - Change the background After class, students will have a chance to practice what they have learned at home. In the second class, students will be introduced to more advanced Google Slides skills. They will also have a chance to share what they created and ask any questions about what was learned in the first lesson. They will learn how to: - Add transitions between slides - Add animation to objects and text - Insert videos and audio - Use the layout/theme features - Format images - Links between slides
