This is an introduction to creative fantasy writing. It is a workshop, so students will creating and writing during this time. We will use random idea generators to create a character, their goals, and then a complication.

This workshop will have some lecture sections with slides, time for student to be creative and ask questions, allocated time to write a drabble (a short work of fiction of precisely one hundred words in length) ,and some time to share our creations.

We will use dice to do random idea generation, physical dice are good but an only dice generator is perfectly fine.

Every student will leave with beginnings of a fantasy story in hand!

Profile
Teacher expertise and credentials
I am an educator. It is my job to ensure that the young people I teach get the support they need, can thrive in their learning environment, and move out into the world as self-respecting, curious, and resilient young adults. My education practise is supported by three core values: honesty, respect, and effort. These values underpin my practice when supporting young people to flourish in our modern world.

I teach Media Studies, Creative Writing, Tabletop Game Design, and well-being. These are my favourite things. I live and breathe them all (I even publish my own tabletop roleplaying games!).

For the last decade, I have been teaching for the public school system. I've worked with young people from a vast range of backgrounds and abilities. Teaching was not my first job. I've worked in kitchens, cooking and scrubbing dishes. I sold shipping containers. And even managed a warehouse full of cheese at one point.

But teaching is where I want to be.
