Beginner Level
Students will learn essential components of resumes to capture employers' attention, as well as key elements and formatting for effective cover letters. The class covers resume writing, job interview skills, job search strategies, and the skills needed to land a job. We will also go over resume templates and a sample resume, with a discussion and questions at the end. Look through my classes at https://outschool.com/teachers/Mrs-Kim-2024 and enter the coupon code at checkout.* First 5 minutes: Greetings and assessing prior experience with job searching and resume writing. 5 minutes: Understanding resumes, their importance, and why starting in high school is beneficial. 25 minutes: Exploring powerful resume templates, what to include, and the best order for education and experience. We will also explore cover letters and why they are important. 15 minutes: Drafting a sample resume based on student feedback and experience. 10 minutes: Job search strategies, including how to find job listings and apply. 10 minutes: Discussing the skills needed to land a job and how to develop them. 20 minutes: Job interview skills, including common questions and effective responses. 10 minutes: Wrap-up, last questions, and option to post resumes for feedback in the classroom.
Learning Goals
Students will learn how to create an attention-grabbing resume, write an effective cover letter, master job interview skills, and develop strategies for job searching and landing their first job. They will gain hands-on experience through resume templates, sample resumes, and interactive discussions.

Materials learners will need to complete the class include: writing materials such as pens, pencils, and paper for note-taking, any existing resumes or job-related documents the students want to review or include in the class discussion. Optional: Access to a printer if they want to print out resume templates or other materials.
