My expertise in the topic area: I am a professionally licensed teacher by the state of Oregon to teach Spanish and Social Studies for grades K-12. I have a BA degree in History and a Minor in Spanish. I have a Masters of Arts in Teaching. I have taught an assortment of Social Studies classes, Spanish language classes, and French language classes in international high schools for 5 years, teaching for 2 of those years in Guatemala and 3 of those years in Morocco.
55 minutes per week in class, and maybe some time outside of class.
We will exclusively study primary sources in this class. The focus is scholastic, objective, and based on inquiry. All comments and questions by the teacher or by students will be uplifting, encouraging, and inclusive. This class is a safe environment for students to study, learn, and discuss about Guatemala, with kindness and respect for all students, the teacher, and the Guatemalan people.
