In this 45-minute class, students will learn how to transform a plastic bottle into a winter garden terrarium.
Class experience
Terrariums are self-contained environments for gardens to grow. They are like aquariums but for plants instead of fish. During the class students will be inspired to create a fun terrarium for the winter holidays through live discussion, videos and pictures. Students will learn the science happening inside the terrarium that helps plants grow and why there is condensation inside the recycled bottle. Students will then be encouraged to follow along as we build a miniature garden terrarium...
A list of preferred items will be shared a couple days before class begins, including an empty plastic bottle. (Soda bottle is preferred, although a glass jar with lid, water bottle or even milk or juice jug will work.)
Some cutting may be needed so parents may need to be on hand to assist depending on the development level of the child.
