Beginner Level
The loose style of watercolor painting allows one to be more expressive with their strokes, and it's why I love it so much. In this class, your learner will paint a beautiful, loose-style cherry blossom tree with a swing. They will add a little detail with shading but will learn that the interpretation of something is just as beautiful as something detailed. At the beginning of class, I will have all the students introduce themselves and one thing they love about painting or art; however, if your child does not want to, that is perfectly alright. Once we have introduced ourselves, I will go over the supplies to ensure that everyone is ready to start painting. The learners will follow along, step-by-step, as I paint with them and create this fun and colorful painting. At the end of class, all the students will have a chance to share their paintings if they choose to. Supplies: -watercolor paints -paintbrush -watercolor paper -cup of water -pencil and eraser

Hi everyone! I am a graduate of Western Washington University with a B.A. in English and a minor in art history. I grew up in Washington State but have lived out on the east coast for most of my adult life. I have been a nanny, homework coach, and tutor for over 20 years. I love working with younger children and teens to help them realize the potential within. I work with kids ages 4 to 18 in reading, reading comprehension, reading remediation, grammar, language arts, elementary/middle school math, pre-algebra, organizational/study skills, HSPT, and ISEE exams.
Whenever I work with a child, whether it's in academics, art/crafting, or baking, I meet the child where they are and build them up from there; I am patient, kind, and understanding. Every child must know that a mistake is not a bad thing, just one step on the path to learning something new and that these steps are the building blocks of understanding.
During my free time, I love to paint, craft, and bake! I have been creating art and crafts for the last ten-plus years and selling them at local shows. I make 3-D paper flowers, burlap wreaths, stamped coasters, work with alcohol inks, fluid painting, watercolor painting, decoupage, and bookbinding. I hope to share all of these with the learners on Outschool!
Finally, I love to bake and cook! I used to sell my bread at a local farmers' market when I lived in Washington State. I am continually trying a new recipe or perfecting one of my own to share with everyone. When I was a nanny, baking and cooking were two of my favorite things to do with the kids. I taught them to bake cookies, bread, breakfast, and even how to roast a chicken.
