Teacher Lauryn has had many years teaching young children the art of Chinese dance. This class will use special teaching methods to train students in technique, flexibility, and strength that are characteristic of traditional Chinese dance. Students are gradually introduced to various forms of Chinese folk dance and the art form of classical Chinese dance. Throughout this class kids will also learn culture and tradition. For those students already learning Chinese, this class will enhance the learner's education of Chinese culture. Our ongoing classes are designed so that a student can come in at any point during the series and follow along. If your learner happen to miss some weeks, they can always come back and pick it up. New steps will be introduced weekly. No previous Chinese dance experience is necessary. Weekly schedule: September 13th: The Dragon Dance – Traditional Dance September 20th: Fan Dance – Traditional Dance September 27th: Sword Dance – Traditional Dance October 4th: Peacock Dance – Ethnic Folk Dance We cannot stress this enough, safety and privacy are our top priorities. Since there will be some physical activities, please be sure that students are away from any potential hazards. Please give your learner an open space to move around and if needed please have a bottled water nearby. Also, please wear comfortable clothing and appropriate footwear.

Parental Guidance
Due to this being a movement class, please ensure your child has an open space to move in (6ft x 6ft) and ensure there are no objects nearby for potential collisions. Students must wear appropriate attire and footwear for dancing. Please also have water available to drink as needed throughout the class. The class will feature a 5 minute stretching/low intensity warm up and 5 minute stretching cool down, however additional stretching prior/after the class is also encouraged based on the individual's personal needs. Although unlikely, injuries may occur if students do not have enough open space, adequate stretching, or parental supervision during class. Students are welcome to stop at any time if they feel overexerted.
