In this six week course learners will cover maths curriculum skills to cover basic knowledge, fill in gaps, extend their knowledge, and enhance their knowledge of the national curriculum (UK). We will cover a place value, multiplication, division, fractions, addition and subtraction and word problems, for an example. We will be including deeper learning and application of our knowledge through problem-solving and applying to real life situations giving purpose to our learning. Over the weeks we will be using manipulatives such as objects like: biscuits sweets counting blocks bricks or small toys to represent our numbers and to help with addition, subtraction, division and multiplication. We will also be looking at more in-depth learning techniques to develop a purpose and application within real life situations. Week one – During week one, we will be using visualisation and methods that we are familiar with to develop a deeper understanding of place value including some decimal places or fractions. During this week we will also include some addition and subtraction exchanging and carrying on over a place value. Week two – During week two, we will be looking at division. Using visualisation and/or manipulatives, we will be encouraging learners to use methods that they are familiar with to divide or share into equal groups. Also during this week we will look at division where there is a remainder. Week three – During week three, we will be looking at multiplication. Using visualisation and/ or manipulatives will be encouraging learners to use methods that they are familiar with to multiply two numbers together. It will be discussed that multiplication may be also known as repeated addition we can also use arrays to support our work. Week four – During this week, we will be looking in more detail at addition and subtraction when carrying over the tens or hundreds columns. We will be adding larger numbers in formal column methods. Week five – During week five, will be looking at fractions. Using manipulatives and pictures representations or visualisations, learners will be in courage to represent fractions and we will learn how to add and subtract fractions with the same denominator. Week six – During the final week, we will begin to look at word problems and how we pick out keywords in order for us to be able to complete the problem. During this week we will also use our skills gained to complete puzzles, tasks or games. After the 6 weeks the class will start again so students can reenrol if they wish.
Learning Goals
Students will Improve their skills in addition subtraction multiplication and division including fractions and decimals and overall understanding of place value. We will use mastery maths to develop a deeper understanding and be able to apply skills to real life situations. Students are encouraged to learn in their own or are using visualisation representations and manipulatives.

Learners should come to class prepared with a pencil/ pen , paper or notebook, and an eraser. Learners may also come to class with various objects; blocks, buttons, biscuits or sweets or other small toys that they can count, divide etc

I'm Lianne 👋 the director of the organisation, a passionate, caring teacher with a vision for learning through fun and engaging lessons. I am a fully qualified Primary School Teacher and specialise working with children under 7 however, I have plenty of experience working with older children and enjoy boosting children's natural ability when SATs are approaching.
I have been a dance and drama teacher volunteer in the past and hope to bring some of this passion into my teaching. I am currently a work from home mum to 3 young boys and I'm exciting to have this opportunity to share my knowledge and teaching style to guide children to reach their potential.
