40 mins in-class hours per weekClass Experience
US Grade 5 - 8
In this ongoing class, students are invited to participate in a "write-in." This is a dedicated 30 minutes to writing their stories, poems, or other creative (or non-creative pieces). This class will have a semi-quiet half hour for students to focus on writing. The class is listed for 40 minutes to allow for introductions, classroom guidelines, and general discussion [discussion topics listed weekly below]. This is NOT a social club where students will be able to chat non-stop, instead, students will focus on writing their pieces with some interaction and conversation as pertains to their creative pieces. Students in my novel writing classes are encouraged to participate in these write-ins to meet their weekly writing commitment. My teaching style is a very friendly and inclusive atmosphere. Students are welcome to journal, write creatively, or even work on writing homework. The goal of this class is to give students a space to work on their projects and share in the creative writing spirit. Students should have something to write, write with, and be able to focus on their projects. As the teacher, I will be there to help with writing questions, spelling, grammar, or other writing and English-related questions. *Weekly topics are subject to change due to learner-led discussion. Topics below are open or each week students can bring their own questions about their writing. What is a "write" in?" 30 minutes of writing time Setting a SMART goal in writing, 30 minutes of writing time Share what we are writing today, 30 minutes of writing time What do you like most about writing, 30 minutes of writing time What is your biggest goal in writing, 30 minutes of writing time
