Fractals: Exploring Patterns in Nature and Designing Our Own Fractal Tree
What's included
1 live meeting
45 mins in-class hoursClass Experience
This class is an introductory and fun exploration into an advanced math concept. Students do *not* need any prior exposure to the concept of Fractals before taking the course. This is an opportunity to learn something completely new for fun, so that later in their math experience, they will be familiar and comfortable with the topic. We will start by learning the concept of Fractals, as well as where you can find them in nature. Then we will practice some of our own kind of Fractals. Then comes the fun part - We will turn this into a beautiful piece of art together. Turning mathematical concepts into a hands-on art project will help students retain the information in a fun and informal way. Students should come with a few white sheets of paper, pencils, and coloring materials (markers, colored pencils, gel pens).

Teacher expertise and credentials
I graduated with a B.S. in Mathematics, Economics, and Statistics. I love numbers and teaching others to really understand the 'what' and 'why' behind their learning.
When I was selected to study mathematics at Eötvös University in Budapest, Hungary, my love of travel and culture began. I have since traveled to 22 countries around the world, and am always planning my next adventure.
After working in the actuarial field for several years, I now homeschool my three kids and do full-time volunteer work with moms all over Africa through MOPS International. My background is a little crazy, but I love learning, I love teaching, and I love growing.
