Designing Your Signature Color: Exploring the Magic of Hex Color Codes is an educational course that explores the world of color through the use of hexadecimal codes. Hex codes are six-digit codes used to represent colors in web design and other digital media. This course is designed for students who are interested in learning about color and how to use it effectively in their designs. By the end of the class, students will learn how to find and use hex codes, and how to use them to create a custom color. Students do not need any prior skills or knowledge before taking the class. The lesson is divided into two parts: instruction and application. The instructions will be delivered through slides. The lesson will begin by exploring colors that are associated with businesses (UPS Brown, Tiffany Blue, Coca-Cola Red, T-Mobile Magenta). Next, students will be introduced to the principles of hex codes and how they are used in visual digital applications. Next, students will be introduced (or reintroduced) to the color wheel and how it is used to create different ranges of colors. The instructional portion ends with students identifying colors based on a given hex code. Finally, the student will be assisted by the instructor in designing their unique color based on the principles discussed during class. They will understand the structures of hex codes including the order of particular colors and how to brighten or mute their desired color. They will use the color wheel to add the correct color code to create their color. The lesson concludes with students being allowed to share their color with their peers and instructor. This project is a great way for students to showcase their skills and gain confidence in their abilities. Overall, Designing Your Signature Color: Exploring the Magic of Hex Color Codes is a comprehensive and engaging class that will help students develop a deep understanding of color and how to create their colors. This lesson is practical whether they are interested in becoming a graphic, web, or game designer or just someone passionate about color and design, this course is the perfect opportunity to dive into the world of hex codes and color theory. With a focus on both theory and practical application, students will leave this course with a solid foundation of knowledge and the skills to create their own personal color.
