Part 2 of 4. This is the second 4 week part of a 4 part course. If you have not taken part 1, please look through our class listings page and start there to enjoy the full course. In this class, students will learn how to understand and manage their screen time addiction. It is important to note that this class is not intended to be a medical service, nor is it presenting therapeutic outcomes. Rather, the class is designed to provide students with knowledge and skills to understand and manage their screen time addiction. The course is educational in nature and seeks to provide students with strategies and tools to help them reduce their dependence on screens, improve their mental and physical health, and develop healthy habits and routines. Throughout the course, students will learn about the effects of excessive screen time on mental and physical health, the science of addiction, and strategies for managing screen time. They will explore healthy habits and routines, balancing screen time with other activities, and practicing mindful technology use. The course will also cover digital citizenship and online safety, building healthy relationships with technology, exploring alternative activities to screen time, coping with boredom and anxiety without screens, screen time and sleep, digital detox and reset, and building a sustainable screen time plan. The goal of the course is to provide students with a comprehensive understanding of screen time addiction and how to develop a healthy and sustainable relationship with technology. The class will be divided into the following weeks and topics: Week 5: Strategies for managing screen time Week 6: Creating healthy habits and routines Week 7: Balancing screen time with other activities Week 8: Mindful technology use Each week, students will watch a pre-recorded video that covers the topic and includes engaging activities and real-life examples. They will then complete homework assignments to apply what they've learned, such as reflecting on their own screen time habits, practicing mindfulness exercises, or planning alternative activities to screen time. After completing the homework assignments, students will receive feedback from the teacher on their progress and specific next steps for improvement. Throughout the course, students can ask questions and participate in discussions with the teacher and other students. The course is designed for learners of all backgrounds and requires no prior experience. By the end of the class, students will have the knowledge and tools to manage their screen time addiction and create a healthy balance between technology and other activities in their lives. The flexible schedule (Recorded Flex Class) allows your learners to watch the pre-recorded videos and do them at a time that is FUN for them! You can also spend extra time on the topics your child is most interested in. Since this is a flex class with no live meetings, students can log in at a convenient time to complete the week's lesson. We will be going through each week as a group and I will post the lesson weekly (depending on which day you started). The videos will contain the information required to give students a good understanding of each topic and each one will include homework for the students to undertake during the week, as part of a project. After watching each video and completing the homework assignments, students will be provided with feedback and the specific next steps on how to improve or adapt. Time frame for the Week: Mondays - The teacher will post the information needed for the week. Students can submit questions. Tuesdays - Wednesday - The teacher can answer any questions pertaining to the topic of the week. The students will need to complete any homework assignments and answer any questions in the discussion. Thursday - Students need to have all tasks completed and uploaded in the classroom for teacher feedback and discussion. Students will discuss it among themselves. Friday - The teacher will provide feedback to the class and individual students. Saturday - Sunday - The teacher will be available to answer any questions that the students may have for the week or the next week. Please note: This course requires no prior experience. *For parents/families who feel their child would benefit from this course, but their budget does not allow for it, I do offer a number of discounts for families of lower income.
