Class Experience
US Grade 1 - 4
Children will cultivate both concrete and abstract comprehension of subtraction and division, leveraging Montessori methodologies and materials such as the stamp game. Weekly sessions will be facilitated through Nearpod links, each containing a video lesson and quiz to ensure comprehensive understanding. Weekly Breakdown: Week 1: Static Subtraction - Introducing static subtraction, which involves subtraction without the need for exchanging. This foundational week focuses on solidifying understanding of the stamp game's mechanics. Week 2: Dynamic Subtraction - Advancing to dynamic subtraction, where exchanging is required. Building upon Week 1, this session extends and reinforces previous learning. Week 3: Static Division - Applying knowledge from the preceding weeks, children delve into static division, which does not necessitate exchanging. Utilizing familiar principles, they transition smoothly to division concepts. Week 4: Dynamic Division - The highlight of the curriculum, dynamic division explores larger numbers and involves exchanging, akin to dynamic subtraction's complexity and excitement. During Weeks 2 and 4, students engage in peer-to-peer learning by posing questions for their peers to answer. This collaborative exercise encourages shared problem-solving experiences, echoing the essence of Montessori education even in virtual settings. The teacher remains accessible to address inquiries or provide additional explanations, ensuring ongoing support and clarity throughout the course.
