Beginner Level
In this class we will address different spelling patterns that are necessary for reading and writing proficiency as well as reading comprehension. We will address skills from to short to long vowels; how to drop e to add ing and more! Each session will start with a spelling pattern introduction and continue on to the teaching of explicit skills through games, and videos. Part three will be a story that will explicitly address the skill, and end with a follow up writing prompt to see if the learning is transferred from learning to being able to spell and write the new pattern!

Attain /mastery in specific reading and spelling patterns with the goal of being able to spell proficiently and read fluently and with understanding.

This class can/ will keep learners focused with a lighthearted atmosphere and quick paced, but developmentally appropriate activities.
Pre-Requisites
There are no pre-requisite skills needed for this because this will be addressing foundational skills.
Supply List
Paper, dry erase board and marker, but a journal or scrap paper will do.

Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.

I have been trained in the University of Florida Reading Institute Foundations and have been teaching it for two years now. I use it daily and have seen the efficacy of its repeated and regular instruction.
I have a Master's in Reading Education and am a certified Reading Specialist. I have been a teacher for over 5 years and have been in the classroom for over 8. I have experience working with all types of learners including those with IEPs, 504s, and specific exceptionalities like Autism.
