These one-on-one tutoring sessions are designed to target an individual learner's needs in English Language Arts and Reading.

For those coming for an initial session or for a one time session, the first 5-10 minutes will be an opportunity for me to get to know your learner's interests and assess their needs in order to determine what activities need to occur during the session. Returning learners will have an opportunity to review skills based on our previous session and check in on their progress. From there, I will focus on specific skills with the student. Activities might include reading exercises, writing exercises, or are often a combination of the two. The skills targeted will vary depending on a learner’s needs but could including skills such as reading comprehension, writing composition, or handwriting.

Here are some examples of potential topics for a tutoring session:
-Working on how to properly structure a paragraph for expository essay writing.
-Reading a passage or poetry aloud then focusing on comprehension, vocabulary, and figurative language.
-Reviewing how to write print or cursive letters correctly and legibly
-Reviewing the writing process for specific compositions like narrative, persuasive, descriptive, correspondence, or poetry

Using a document camera and the "screen share" feature of Zoom, I will be able to coach your learner through reading, typing, and handwriting skills, depending on what is necessary.

We will also set goals for your learner to strive towards beyond our session so that they can track their progress between sessions.
Learning Goals
Learning goals will vary from student to student, but some goals might be:
