Class experience
US Grade Pre-Kindergarten - 1
In this ongoing course, your learner will expand their sense of emotional intelligence and improve social skills through a variety of interactive activities. (a game, drawing, etc.). Learners will have weekly opportunities to practice communication and other...
Learners will improve their ability to identify their own emotions, express them to adults and peers, and use coping skills to manage their emotions more effectively. Learners will also learn to listen actively, wait their turn to speak, and express their thoughts clearly out loud.
As a mother, mental health therapist, and former teacher I will bring both my professional expertise and personal touch to this class. Instruction will be based on research and offered in a way that is approachable and engaging for young children. This class is not therapeutic in nature and will not provide direct mental health support for any learner.
Drawing supplies (i.e. paper, markers, crayons, whiteboard)
This class is for educational purposes only and is not a substitute for therapy or meant to be therapeutic in nature. Learners will be provided instruction around the primary emotions, emotional vocabulary, common ways to recognize those emotions, and related age appropriate coping skills. If learners introduce sensitive information in discussion, they will be asked to continue that conversation with a trusted adult outside of class. Depending on the nature of the statement, I may reach out to parent/guardian directly to keep you informed. In order to minimize the likelihood of personal information being shared in class, please review Outschool's Community Standards before your learner begins the class.
