In this book club, we will meet once a week for 10 weeks to discuss our books. We will read one book a week and students will need to be ready to talk about the story during our meeting.We will read a mix of modern and classic children's literature. The goal of the class is to help learners analyze a novel and to express their thoughts, opinions and connections to the text. This is a class for readers who "devour" books and can read a book a week. Students will have interaction with the teacher via discussion prompts and with fellow learners as we share our feelings about these novels. Week 1: Opening class to go over the syllabus and how the book club works and to get to know one another Week 2 Read and discuss The Witch of Blackbird Pond by Elizabeth George Speare Week 3 Read and discuss Farmer Boy by Laura Ingalls Wilder Week 4 Read and discuss The Eygpt Game byZilpha Keatly Synder Week 5 Read and discuss Chasing Vermeer by Blue Balliet Week 6 Read and discuss Fame and Glory in Freedom, Georgia bu Barbara O'Connor Week 7 Read and discuss The Wizard of Oz by Frank L. Baum Week 8 Read and Discuss The Evolution of Calpurnia Tate by Jacqueline Kelly Week 9 Read and Discuss Peter Pan by James Barrie Week 10 Read and discuss Pippi Longstocking by Astrid Lindgren Students should have a copy of the books and should be prepared to read the book assigned for each week. This is a fast paced class. Topics to be explored will include characters, theme, genre, conflict, resolution setting, point of view and author's purpose.

Hi, my name is Miss Angie! I am a teacher of 20+ years. I follow a Charlotte- Mason/Waldorf inspired teaching philosophy and love teaching poetry, literature and handcrafts such as cross stich, embroidery, sewing and crochet. I am also passionate about tea and poetry tea times for a variety of age groups. I love allowing young minds to explore their creativity and believe in hands on/student led education.I believe in music and art as foundations for learning.
I have a BA in Speech and Drama with a minor in English and have taught music and theatre in addition to Language Arts , history and elementary school.
I'm also a mom of two fantastic daughters. The other love of my life is an adorable little Pomklee named Hunter.
